Oil prices have jumped to approach $54 on concerns about supply from OPEC. Oil back to over $53. Chavez tries to intimidate US: 
Today the prices were taken back to over $53 at $53.50 a barrel by the announcement of a possibility of a hike in OPEC production, made by Nigeria’s Presidential adviser on Petroleum, Edmund Daukoru. He said the agenda of the cartel’s March meeting will include the issue of whether to raise production or to keep it stable.

Crude oil falls slightly on stock results: 
Crude oil fell slightly ahead of the US stockpiles report. The US light crude fell 7 cents to $51.68 per barrel, compared with a four-month record of $52.28 set on Monday. London Brent crude fell 6 cents to $50.00 per barrel.

Oil price up for the sixth straight day: 
Oil prices have posted their sixth daily increase since Monday, edging above $52 on speculation that a cold snap in the US Northeast will exhaust the US stocks of heating fuels that are already below the norm. Currently, the U.S. inventories of heating oil are 7% below last year’s levels and stand at about 41 million barrels, which raises concerns about the depletion of heating oil reserves in the country that is its heaviest user.
