General Motors reported a first-quarter net loss of $1.1 billion:

General Motors Corp., the world’s biggest automaker, reported today a first-quarter net loss due to fall in US sales.
Net loss of $1.1 billion, or $1.95 a share, was the biggest since 1992. Last year GM had a net income of $1.28 billion, or $2.25 a share. GM’s finance unit’s profit fell to $728 million from $764 million in the same period.
