Administradora De Fondos de Pensiones Provida S.A. (Provida) operates as a private pension fund administrator in the Republic of Chile. The Companys subsidiary, Provida Internacional S.A., maintains equity interests in private pension fund administrators operating in Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and El Salvador. During September 2001, Provida became the owner of 100% of AFP Genesis S.A., which operates in the Ecuadorian fund management industry. The Company collects monthly mandatory contributions that are withheld from the salaries of its affiliates by their employers and from its self-employed affiliates. Provida offers its affiliates the option of establishing a voluntary savings account into which they may deposit additional funds to be invested in the elected pension fund. The affiliate may make deposits into a voluntary savings account as often as desired and is able to make withdrawals four times a year.
