AmSouth Bancorporation is a financial holding company and bank holding company that offers a broad range of bank and bank-related services through its principal subsidiary, AmSouth Bank (the Bank) and its other subsidiaries. The Bank is an Alabama banking corporation and a wholly owned subsidiary of AmSouth. As of December 31, 2002, the Bank had total consolidated assets of approximately $40.6 billion and total consolidated deposits of approximately $27.6 billion. As of December 31, 2002, the assets of the Bank constituted virtually all of the assets of AmSouth. AmSouth has three reportable segments: Consumer Banking, Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. These services are offered to businesses and individuals through the Banks approximately 600 offices located in Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana and Georgia. The Bank also operates a network of more than 1,200 automated teller machines that are linked with shared automated tellers in all 50 states.
