Capitol Federal Financial is the holding company for Capitol Federal Savings Bank (the Bank). The Bank serves primarily the entire metropolitan areas of Topeka, Wichita, Lawrence, Manhattan, Emporia and Salina, Kansas, and a portion of the metropolitan area of greater Kansas City through 28 traditional and seven in-store banking offices. It attracts retail deposits from the general public and invests those funds primarily in permanent loans secured by first mortgages on owner-occupied, one- to four-family residences. The Bank also originates a limited amount of loans secured by first mortgages on non-owner-occupied, one- to four-family residences, consumer loans, permanent and construction loans secured by commercial real estate and multi-family real estate loans. In addition, Capitol Federal Savings Bank purchases whole loans and invests in certain investment and mortgage-related securities funded through retail deposits and advances from the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of Topeka.
