Erie Indemnity Company operates predominantly as a provider of sales, underwriting and policy issuance services to the Erie Insurance Exchange (Exchange). The Company also operates as a property and casualty insurer through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Erie Insurance Co., Erie Insurance Property and Casualty Co. and Erie Insurance Co. of New York (collectively, the Property and Casualty Group). The Exchange and its property and casualty subsidiary, Flagship City Insurance Co. (Flagship), and the Property and Casualty Group write personal and commercial lines property and casualty coverages exclusively through over 8,400 independent agents and pool their underwriting results. Together with the Exchange, the Company and its subsidiaries and affiliates operate collectively, as the Erie Insurance Group. Erie Indemnity has three business segments: management operations, insurance underwriting operations and investment operations.
