Manulife Financial Corporation is a life insurance company and the holding company of The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company, a Canadian life insurance company. The Company and its subsidiaries provide a range of financial products and services, including individual life insurance, group life and health insurance, pension products, annuities and mutual funds, to individual and group customers in Canada, the United States and Asia. It also offers reinsurance services, primarily life and accident reinsurance, and provides investment management services with respect to its general fund assets, segregated fund assets and mutual funds, and, in Canada and Asia, to institutional customers. Manulifes business segments include U.S., Canadian, Asian, Japan and reinsurance divisions. Effective January 1, 2002, Japan was established as its own division and was no longer included in the results of the Asian division.
