Vesta Insurance Group, Inc. is a holding company whose principal assets are investments in the capital stock of a group of insurance companies. The Company, through its subsidiaries, conducts business in three areas of the personal insurance industry: standard property and casualty, non-standard automobile and life. The Company formerly participated in the commercial and reinsurance markets, but exited these business lines to pursue a strategy of diversification into various segments of the personal insurance markets. The largest portion of the Companys business is conducted through Vesta Fire Insurance Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary domesticated in Illinois. The Company operates in five business segments: standard property-casualty insurance; nonstandard agency; nonstandard underwriting; life insurance, and corporate and other.
