U.S. fund management company Capital Research and Management has lifted its investments into the Japanese bank UFJ in order to become its second largest shareholder. This event is connected with the support of bank’s merging with MTFG given by overseas investors.
Capital Research holds 6.6 per cent of UFJ shares, while the total amount of shares controlled by foreign shareholders is about 31 per cent.
Capital Group, that includes Capital Research and Management, has funds under management over $800 billion. After Capital had notified the Ministry of Finance that its shareholding had risen above law-required 5 per cent, it informed about its shares in UFJ.
As UFJ has announced about its merge with MTFG, Japan’s third largest bank, foreign investors should change their view on investing, Capital Research suggests.
