At least one year of Bush administration was marked by the fact that several large nation’s corporations managed to avoid federal income tax paying, a new survey unveiled.
82 out of 275 examined U.S. companies used to pay no federal income taxes during 2001-2003 of Bush’s administration. Jason Furman, a democratic candidate John Kerry’s economic adviser, said Bush’s administration has failed to “back many needed loophole closers,” strongly criticizing Bush’s tax policy and calling Mr. President “utterly hypocritical.”
Among the largest tax-breakers are: General Electric Co. with its $9.5 billion during 2001-2003, SBC Communications having $9 billion of tax breaks and two other companies with equal tax-breaking record of $4.6 billion: Citigroup Inc. and International Business Machines Corp.
