ECB kept rate at 2%, as was expected

The ECB kept its main refinancing rate at 2% on Thursday, as was expected.

Many economists predicted that the ECB would hold its key rates unchanged till the third quarter of 2005. Against the rate hikes reflect such facts as strong euro and weak economic data from Germany.
