Credit Suisse first-quarter profit rose to the highest level in two years

Credit Suisse first-quarter profit rose to the highest level in two years Credit Suisse Group, the second-largest Swiss bank, reported today that its first-quarter profit rose to the highest level in two years.

Profit rose to 1.91 billion Swiss francs ($1.61 billion), or 1.63 francs a share, from 1.86 billion francs, or 1.53 francs, last year. Analysts were expecting 1.59 billion francs.


Profit at the retail business rallied 45% to 274 million francs. Profit at the property and casualty unit rose 21% to 125 million francs.

Return on equity was 20.6%.
