MBNA Q2 net rises

Credit card giant MBNA Corp (KRB) said Thursday that its net income for the second quarter of 2004 rose 21 percent to $660.3 million or 51 cents per share compared with $543.3 million or 42 cents per last year. According to Thomson First Call, analysts it polled estimated, on average, that the company would earn 48 cents per share in the quarter. The company’s loan loss provisions fell in the quarter, dropping to $251.5 million versus $345.6 million a year ago.
