UK banks persuade consumers to use chip-and-PIN cards

In spite of the fact of almost 17.2 million chip-and-PIN cards are in use now in UK, over 60% of cardholders are unaware of the biggest change to the financial system.

By the time UK adopt chip and PIN technology (January 2005) UK banks are planning to educate their consumers in use of chip-and-PIN cards. According to the recent research, 56 per cent of conveyed expressed concern about their PIN to be found out, 28 per cent claimed they would feel uncomfortable entering their PIN at a POS terminal in a store or restaurant.
