The UK banks will likely reconsider the security for EMV cards and turn to dynamic data authentication (DDA) generating a new certificate for each transaction, ePaynews said.
Now the majority of EMV cards use static data authentication (SDA) at a POS terminal while DDA is more reliable in card security terms.
DDA is more secure than SDA as it sends the combined message of the time of a transaction, the details of the card, cardholder and merchant to the host while SDA may allow the potential fraudster to grab the information when the certificate inserted during the manufacturing process is sent to the POS terminal.
