US firms fell victim of fraudsters in 2004: survey

About a half of American companies fell victim of payment fraud at least once in 2004, the recent AFP Payments Forum survey shows.
The survey of 2,500 financial professionals showed that about 73% of large-sized companies in the US were attacked by the payment fraudsters at least once in 2004, with the percentage of smaller firms amounting for 37%.
About 95% of surveyed said they experienced check fraud in 2004.
The average losses from all the cases of fraud amounted for $250,000, the survey forecast.
