Forex volume surveys semi-annual instead of triennial

Data on forex market trading volumes will be available once in six months, a dramatic improvement from the current three-year period.

New York Federal Reserve’s FX Committee and the Bank of England’s Foreign Exchange Joint Standing Committee took their surveys in October and are expected to release them simultaneously in January. The surveys have covered April and October samples of activity.

Currently trading volume is currently available once in three years through the Bank for International Settlement’s triennial survey last taken in April.
