European shares closed higher on Monday.
In U.K.: BP Amoco added 0.1% to 537.5. Barclays Bank declined 0.59% to 594. Diageo rose 1.37% to 739. HSBC slid 0.57% to 874. Vodafone fell 0.73% to 135.75.
Unilever rallied 3.2% to 524.25. MSDW today raised its rating for the company’s shares to “overweight” (click

In Germany: Bayer rose 1.44% to 24.74. DT Boerse slid 0.31% to 47.55. DaimlerChrysler rose 1% to 35.23. BMW added 1.9% to 32.77. Deutsch Bank advanced 1.43% to 66.18. Infineon added 1.69% to 7.24. SAP fell 0.58% to 118.60.
Allianz added 0.32% to 91.24. Merrill Lynch raised its rating for the company’s shares to “buy” (click

In France: Alcatel closed unchanged at 11.23. BNP Paribas rose 0.54% to 55.95. Danone slid 0.35% to 71.65. EADS fell 0.6% to 23.58. France Telecom added 0.9% to 24.32. Renault fell 0.1% to 63.45. Total rose 0.6% to 168.50.
US STOCK MARKET
U.S. stocks ended higher after
the FOMC decision. The Dow Jones Industrial rose 44.85 points to 10,596.79. The S&P 500 added 3.78 points to 1,193.19. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 6.36 points to 2,075.06.
In the currency market, the euro rose to $1.3038 from $1.3026 in New York late Tuesday. The dollar fell to 103.74 yen, from $104.05.
