In U.K.: Shell rose 0.46% to 486.75. Barclays Bank rose 0.67% to 597.50. Diageo slid 0.67% to 745 HSBC added 0.84% to 905.50. Vodafone rose 0.18% to 139.50. Unilever slipped 0.76% to 520.75.
In Germany: Bayer slid 0.16% to 25.39. DaimlerChrysler advanced 0.61% to 36.30. BMW fell 0.12% to 33.20. Infineon rallied 3.73% to 7.50. SAP added 0.34% to 123.32. Allianz added 0.22% to 94.36.
Deutsch Bank rose 0.37% to 68.35.
In France: Alcatel rose 0.91% to 10.01. BNP Paribas fell 0.46% to 54.65. Danone slipped 1.46% to 70.65. EADS unchanged at closed at 23.43. France Telecom added 0.16% to 24.73. Renault rocketed 2.66% to 65.70. Total rose 0.12% to 170.20.
US STOCK MARKET
U.S. stocks ended higher. The Dow Jones Industrial rose 8.87 points and closed at 10,724.63. The S&P 500 rose 0.60 points to 1,202.32. The Nasdaq Composite added 4.65 points to 2,086.68.
FOREX
In the currency market, the euro fell to $1.2763 from $1.2770 in New York late Monday. The dollar rose to 105.75 yen, from $104.80.
