In U.K.: Shell tumbled nearly 3% and closed at 472.25. Barclays Bank fell 0.59% to 594. Diageo slipped 0.94% to 738. HSBC added 0.11% to 906.50. Vodafone rose 0.54% to 139.25. Unilever declined 0.91% to 516.
In Germany: Bayer slid 0.16% to 25.39. DaimlerChrysler advanced 0.61% to 36.30. BMW fell 0.12% to 33.20. Infineon rallied 3.73% to 7.50. SAP added 0.34% to 123.32. Allianz added 0.22% to 94.36. Deutsch Bank rose 0.37% to 68.35.
In France: Alcatel slipped 0.1% to 10. BNP Paribas added 0.1% to 54.70. Danone added 0.21% to 70.80. EADS declined 0.17% to 23.39. France Telecom added 0.32% to 24.81. Total fell 0.41% to 169.50.
Renault rocketed 2.13% to 67.10, the company’s 2004 profit rose 43%.
US STOCK MARKET
U.S. stocks ended lower, the second straight session. The Dow Jones Industrial fell 60.52 points and closed at 10,664.11. The S&P 500 slipped 10.31 points to 1,191.99. The Nasdaq Composite declined 34.13 points to 2,052.55.
FOREX
In the currency market, the euro rose to $1.2804 from $1.2750 in New York late Tuesday. The dollar fell to 105.66 yen, from $105.75.
