The benchmark 10-year Treasury note fell 22/32 to 101 14/32, the yield rose to 4.07%. Today the U.S. Treasury Department sold $14 billion in 10-year notes at a yield of 4.049%.
EU STOCK MARKET
European shares closed mixed today on week corporate data from automakers and telecom companies.
In U.K.: Shell fell 0.05% and closed at 472. Barclays Bank fell 0.1% to 593.50. Diageo slipped 0.07% to 737.50. HSBC declined 0.50% to 902.0. Vodafone fell 0.89% to 138.75. Unilever declined 0.39% to 514.
In Germany: Bayer rallied 1.72% to 26.05. Infineon fell 0.93% to 7.45. SAP declined 1.08% to 122.50. Allianz fell 0.34% to 93.50. Deutsch Bank slid 0.18% to 67.28. BMW rose 0.58% to 33.17.
DaimlerChrysler fell 1.19% to 35.69, after the company reported its
quarterly results.
In France: Alcatel slipped 1.30% to 9.87. BNP Paribas added 0.55% to 55.0. Danone declined 0.35% to 70.55. EADS declined 0.30% to 23.32. Renault fell 0.15% to 67.0.
France Telecom tumbled 2.26% to 24.25, after the company reported that its 2004
income fell 13%.
Societe Generale rose rallied 3.64% to 79.70, after the company reported that its fourth-quarter
income rose 30%.
US STOCK MARKET
U.S. stocks ended higher on Thursday. The Dow Jones Industrial rose 85.50 points and closed at 10,749.61. The S&P 500 added 5.01 points to 1,197. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.55 points to 2,053.10.
FOREX
In the currency market, the euro rose to $1.2877 from $1.2804 in New York late Wednesday. The dollar rose to 105.81 yen, from $105.66.
