Sony ordered to pay damages and halt the PlayStation2 console

Japanese electronic giant Sony Corp.’s video game unit today was announced the PlayStation2 console halt and pay some £48 million ($90.7 million) in damages to technology minnow Immersion, according to the US court order.

According to the March 24 decision, Sony Computer Entertainment is ordered to pay compensations to Immersion Corp.of San Joselocation, California, which develops and licenses digital technology.

But the Tokyo-based company is going to apply to federal district court in Oakland, California and the U.S. High Court to appeal this decision.

An SCE spokeswoman confirmed that for this time Sony will continue PlayStation selling as the order does not go into effect before the appel.
