PlayStation Portable wins points for Sony
(by Sh.Nakata)

PlayStation Portable wins points for Sony Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. sold more than 500,000 units of the Playstation Portable hand-held video game systems in North America during its first two days on the market.
In a press release Thursday, Sony also said the game brought $150 million in sales during the first week.

On March 24, after a December launch in Japan, Sony presented the targeted at adults PSP on the U.S. market with the price of the $249.

Great sales of the new multi-functional device may help Sony to score a point in the severe competition with Apple Computer Inc. (AAPL), whose iPod music player got a leadership among expensive electronic toys. Still, Apple failed to hurt Sony’s rating in video-game industry.

Sony is going to distribute 3 million PlayStation Portable units worldwide by the end of March, said Jack Tretton, an executive vice president at its U.S. unit, in an interview on March 25.
