A new offer from Verizon for its consumers presents VoiceWing Internet-based service in more than 30 states with unlimited local and long-distance calling for $34.95. For Verizon DSL subscribers will enjoy the discount to $29.95, said Kevin Laverty, a Verizon spokesman.
The technique proposed enables VoiceWing customers to connect their telephones to their home high-speed Internet connections using a small adapter provided by Verizon. This allows to offer phone connection over the Internet without a standard phone line.
In its turn, AOL made a competitive offering to its customers with introductory rate of $29.99 a month for a package including high-speed Internet access, phone service, unlimited local and long-distance calling, plus unlimited broadband service for six months. After introductory period, the price is to rises to $39.99. The flavor for AOL members is a comparatively large choice of packages with different services and prices.
Moreover, AOL’s advantage is that its parent Time Warner Inc. has one of the nation’s largest cable TV operators in its possession. Nowadays, the cable industry is fighting for more and more offerings of different services including phone and broadband services, Internet-based phone initiatives and video offerings.
