S.C. Johnson defrauded by trucking companies

Federal authorities are investigating alleged fraudulent schemes involving forged trucking contracts by transportation director of S.C. Johnson & Son Inc.

The alleged scheme under investigation of the U.S. attorney’s office in Milwaukee and postal inspectors is related to Milton E. Morris, who until last fall served as Johnson’s transportation director and had a deal with nearly $100 million in annual trucking contracts. Federal investigator issued an affidavit in order to support a search warrant alleging that trucking companies with the help of Mr. Morris defrauded S.C. Johnson by about $1 million a month.

Mr. Morris was fired in October after the company conducted an internal investigation early last year. The lawsuit started by the company pointed out "cash, gifts, jewelry, travel, lodging" and "expenses associated with gambling" as having been paid to Mr. Morris by the trucking companies and their executives.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Ingraham in Milwaukee confirmed the fact that investigation started up, but declined to give any further comments.

The investigators are also on the point of searching the activities of Katie Scheller, Mr. Morris’s deputy.
