McKesson Corp. and Cardinal Health Inc. in Spitzer’s bad grace
(by Brigitta Zulfitzler)

McKesson Corp. and Cardinal Health Inc. in Spitzer’s bad grace McKesson Corp. and Cardinal Health Inc. were handed subpoenas from New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer last week related to the big drug wholesaler dealers’ transactions on the secondary market.

The above-named companies as well as AmerisourceBergen Corp filed their forms with the Securities and Exchange Commission Friday, disclosing that they turn to the secondary market when drugs are in short supply (about 0.5% of the whole drug amount).

The subpoenas are said to be connected to transactions with forged products, since the secondary market has often been filled with phony drugs to enter.

Mr. Spitzer’s office avoided giving any comment on the subpoenas.

All the three companies expressed their willingness to cooperate with the state attorney general’s office.

Mr. Spitzer is noted to provide extremely active investigations in areas of different industries in the framework of anti-fraud campaign. The drug industry also failed to escape the hawk-eyed attorney general.
