Sony Ericsson first-quarter profit tumbled 61%

Sony Ericsson reported today that its first-quarter profit tumbled 61%.
 
Profit fell to 32 million euros ($41 million) from 82 million euros last year. Revenue fell to 1.29 billion euros from 1.34 billion euros.
 
Pretax profit fell to 70 million euros from 97 million euros a year earlier. Analysts were expecting profit of 111 million euros on sales of 1.6 billion euros.
 
Company’s shipments rose 6.8% to 9.4 million phones.
 
Sony Ericsson's global market share rose to 6.3% from 5.1% last year.
