«Epic tragedy» of YUKOS gets development
The YUKOS case is one of those cases that will long evoke new developments after Russia’s President Vladimir Putin started puzzling Western leaders.

Earlier, Putin promised to take the case of bankrupt oil giant under his personal control, making promises to Jean Chretien, the former prime minister of Canada, as well as French President Jacques Chirac. The counterparts appeared disappointed.

Mr. Chretien asked Mr. Chirac «to raise the lack of response with Mr. Putin, and the Russian president said one would be forthcoming,» according to the Wall Street Journal. Mr. Chretien also called the case «an epic tragedy.»
