Microsoft names new chief financial officer

The biggest software maker over the globe Microsoft Corp. named Monday its new chief financial officer who will replace John Connors.

Christopher Liddell, former CFO of International Paper Co., will head financial department of Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft starting May 9.

Former Microsoft’s CFO John Connors left the position in March, 2005. He joined the capital firm of Ignition Partners.

Under Connors, the company saw a $75 billion payment to shareholders through stock buybacks and dividends, according to Bloomberg.

Before joining International Paper in 2003, Liddell was a senior executive at International Paperand its New Zealand affiliate, Carter Holt Harvey, for the past 10 years.
