L. Dennis Kozlowski, former chief executive of Tyco International Ltd. on Wednesday denied charges on how loan programs of the company were abused by misplacing bonuses.
Kozlowski testified Wednesday on larceny charges and tried to explain how his best intentions to increase business turned into illegal actions.
"I just was not thinking when I signed my tax return that I had a $25 million loan forgiveness. Year in and year out at Tyco, my tax returns for the most part had been correct. I didn’t pick up on it." Kozlowski said.
Mr. Kozlowski failed to explain how a $25 million bonus disappeared from his 1999 tax return.
Kozlowski is not the only one person in the case. Mark H. Swartz, the company’s former CFO, is also a witness in the trial.
