US junk bond funds see $162 mln weekly outflow

U.S. junk bond mutual funds saw a $162 million outflow in the week ended Wednesday, the seventh straight week of outflows from the funds, according to AMG Data Services.
The outflows, reported late on Thursday, followed a $989 million outflow in the prior week.

Junk bonds, which lack investment-grade ratings, have posted a 1.7 percent loss this month, according to Merrill Lynch, although prices have recovered for the past two weeks. Outflows from junk bond mutual funds have slowed since the week ended May 12, when the funds lost $2.15 billion in cash, the second-highest outflow on record.
