Barclays (BCS) will debut nine new ETFs from its IShares unit based on Morningstar indices. The largest single day debut of ETFs ever on the Big Board, the new exchange-traded funds will more than double the ETFs listed on the NYSE to 16 from 7, said NYSE spokesman Eric Ryan. Barclays Global CEO Lee Kranefuss will ring the opening bell of the exchange on Friday morning to mark the event. The new ETFs are: IShares Morningstar Large Value Index Fund (JKF), Large Growth Index Fund (JKE), Large Core Index Fund (JKD), Mid Value Index Fund (JKI), Mid Growth Index Fund (JKH), Mid Core Index Fund (JKG), Small Value Index Fund (JKL), Small Growth Index Fund (JKK) and Small Core Index Fund (JKJ). Exchange traded funds have been picking up steam on Wall Street as a less expensive alternative to mutual funds.
