Pension funds see the same scenario as mutual funds. They will probably be forced to unveil the procedure of calculating their proxy votes.
The Government Accountability Office in its last week’s report pointed the option of pension funds to disclose their proxy votes; the same as last year were forced to do by SEC mutual funds. This would give fresh information to the investors, it noted.
At that time, mutual funds were afraid of being weak to pressure from interest groups. But now, being more transparent is considered to be for pension funds “a good thing”, specialists say.
