Jacob Goldfield leaves Quantum

(by Sh. Nakata)

George Soros’ hedge fund chief investment officer leaves to start his own company, Jacob Goldfield said in a memo.

Jacob Goldfield declined to comment on his new company, saying it will be a money management group. He also added he would continue to manage money for Soros Fund Management.

Goldfield will be replaced by Robert Soros, 41, George Soros’ eldest son and current Quantum Endowment Fund head and Soros Fund Management deputy chairman. Robert Soros became a chief investment officer for equities in April 2003 after Robert Bishop left and was interim CEO in 2000.

Jacob Goldfield is the fifth top manager that leaves the fund to start new company.
