Aetna buys Strategic Resource

An administrator of group benefit products for part-time and hourly workers Strategic Resource Co. can be bought by Aetna Inc. for $250 million. Time of the transaction is approximately in the fourth quarter.

SRC was founded in 1976 and now administers benefits on behalf of more than 700 employers in 46 states and the District of Columbia.

Due to the agreement, business will come to Tim Brown, senior vp and head of Aetna’s middle-market business and some of Strategic’s staff will be retained.
