Insurance companies continue to assess losses as the second-largest hurricane Charley hit Florida making damage of hundreds of millions dollars.
CNA Financial Corp. said recently the expected losses account for $40 million to $60 million. Zenith National Insurance Corp.’s after-tax losses are anticipated to exceed $3.1 million, it reported.
Insurers are also going to donate extra money helping to relief the disaster aftermath. E.g., Chubb Corp. gives $500,000 to the Volunteer Florida Foundation. Allstate Insurance Co. contributed as much as $1 million to help damaged areas, as well as American International Group Inc. with its donation of $1 million. AIG persuades its employees to contribute money to help elderly people and those who have been displaced from mobile homes.
