Japanese shares closed higher the week as exporters rose in line with the dollar's recent strength.
The Nikkei 225 rose 15.13 points, 0.13% to 11,761.10. The TOPIX Index added 0.45% and closed at 1,193.77.
"Many blue chips such as Sony keep drawing healthy buying from institutional investors, including foreigners. In contrast, day traders and dealers are quick to grab profits on recent gainers," said Terushi Hirotama from Ichiyoshi Securities.
Advantest dropped 0.74% to 8100 yen, Canon was up 1.08% to 5590 yen. NEC fell 0.63% to 635 yen. Sony rocketed 2.09% to 4400 yen.
Daiei tumbled 1.38% to 215 yen.
Honda rallied 2.26% to 5420, Nissan Motor rose 1.95% to 1099 yen, Toyota rocketed 2.03% to 4030 yen.
Yto-Yokado was up 1.42% to 4280 yen.

In the currency market, the euro rose to $1.2951 from $1.2944 in New York late Thursday. The dollar fell to 106.25 yen, from $106.38 yen.
