Japanese shares closed higher on Thursday.

 

The Nikkei 225 rose 54.68 points, 0.47% to 11,723.63.

 

Today was released Tankan survey. Japanese business confidence fell to 14 points from 22 points in the December survey. Economists were expecting 22 points.

 

Advantest rose 0.61% to 8270 yen, Canon closed unchanged at 5750 yen. NEC declined 0.31% to 646 yen. Sony closed unchanged at 4240 yen.

 

Daiei declined 0.45% to 219 yen.

 

Honda added 0.19% to 5380, Nissan Motor rose 0.45% to 1104 yen, Toyota rose 0.75% to 4020 yen.

 

Yto-Yokado added 0.23% to 4290 yen.

 

 

In the currency market, the euro rose to $1.2975 from $1.2960 in New York late Thursday. The dollar advanced to 107.40 yen, from $107.20 yen.
