In U.K.: Barclays Bank fell 0.54% to 547.50. Diageo slipped 0.13 and closed at 757.50. HSBC declined 0.48% to 835.00. Vodafone dropped 0.18% to 140.50. Unilever fell 1.05% to 518.00. Shell was up 0.74% and closed at 479.00.
In Germany: Bayer was down 0.58% to 25.65. Infineon tumbled 1.75% to 7.30. SAP declined 0.78% to 122.61. Allianz dropped 1.43% to 97.00. Deutsche Bank declined 0.83% to 66.84. BMW fell 0.40% and closed at 34.96. DaimlerChrysler slipped 0.49% to 34.19.
In France: Alcatel dropped 1.49% to 9.24. BNP Paribas fell 1.00% to 54.25. EADS tumbled 1.92% and closed at 23.00. France Telecom was down 0.82% to 22.99. Danone fell 0.79% to 75.75. Renault slid 0.72% to 69.30.
