Japanese shares closed lower on Thuesday after weak U.S. retail sales data and a disappointing report from AMD.
The Nikkei 225 declined 74.35 points, 0.64% to 11,563.17, the lowest closing level in seven weeks..
``There's no reason to be bullish,'' said Naohiko Sasaki from Kokusai Asset Management Co. ``Worsening consumer spending in the U.S. and the prospects of a slowdown in global growth will have a negative impact on exporters.''
Advantest tumbled 2.04% and closed at 8150 yen, Canon closed unchanged at 5730 yen. NEC fell 1.10% to 627 yen. Sony slid 1.43% to 4150 yen.
Daiei rocketed 4.95% to 212 yen.
Honda dropped 0.91% to 5440, Nissan Motor fell 0.54% to 1101 yen, Toyota declined 0.25% to 4010 yen.
Yto-Yokado dropped 0.24% to 4130 yen.

In the currency market, the euro fell to $1.2869 from $1.2915 in New York late Wednesday. The dollar advanced to 107.91 yen, from $107.20 yen.
