Japanese shares closed the week lower on disappointing corporate data from Samsung and IBM.
The Nikkei 225 tumbled 192.48 points, 1.66% to 11,370.69, dropping for the fifth straight losing day.
"Results from IBM and Samsung came below the market consensus, dealing a blow to the technology sector here," said Kazuhiro Takahashi from Daiwa Securities.
Advantest was down 2.09% and closed at 7980 yen, Canon tumbled 1.92% to 5620 yen. NEC fell 2.39% to 612 yen. Sony dropped 2.65% to 4040 yen.
Daiei declined 1.89% to 208 yen.
Honda slipped 1.29% to 5370, Nissan Motor fell 0.82% to 1092 yen, Toyota declined 1.25% to 3960 yen.
Yto-Yokado dropped 1.69% to 4060 yen.

In the currency market, the euro tumbled to $1.2820 from $1.2826 in New York late Thursday. The dollar rose to 108.21 yen, from $108.10 yen.
