CDS gain popularity among retail investors
(by Dr.Goldfinger)

The credit default swaps (CDS), aimed at protecting investors from the borrower’s default, are becoming more and more popular among investors indicating the trend of launching credit derivatives funds.

Some market analysts say access for retail investors to the CDS market may be opened within a five-to-ten-year period. “As a retail investor, you can’t really access the CDS market. In five to 10 years, there may be a pure retail market,» said Nicole Montoya of AXA Investment Managers, the fund manager who launched the fund with ABN Amro.

The traders cannot skip the fast growing market as the pricing is usually linked to movements in the CDS market. Today the market doubled in size and there are signs it is bound to grow rapidly.
