European shares closed lower on Tuesday due to rising oil prices.
The Dax Index fell 41.28 points, or 0.96% to 4251.13, the FTSE 100 Index declined 17.90 points, or 0.36% to 4892.40, the CAC 40 Index slipped 19.94 points, or 0.50% to 4000.25.
In U.K.: Barclays Bank tumbled 2.08% to 542.50. Diageo fell 0.44 and closed at 784.50. HSBC slipped 0.29% to 857.0. Vodafone fell 0.18% to 138.00. Unilever climbed 0.46% to 541.00. Shell rose 0.10% and closed at 477.50.
In Germany: Bayer fell 0.27% to 26.22. Infineon slid 2.27% to 6.89. SAP was down 0.47% to 126.50. Allianz tumbled 2.15% to 92.50. Deutsche Bank dropped 3.0% to 61.85. BMW declined 0.72% and closed at 33.31. DaimlerChrysler slipped 0.77% to 30.96.
In France: Alcatel declined 1.06% to 8.39. BNP Paribas fell 1.04% to 52.20. EADS tumbled 1.71% and closed at 22.36. France Telecom slipped 0.91% to 22.95. Danone was down 0.07% to 74.45. Renault rose 0.52% to 67.95.
