U.S. consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.5% in April, according to the Labor Department. Ecocnomists were expecting 0.4%. The energy prices rocketed 4.5%, the fastest increase in two years, food prices rose 0.7%. The core index (core-CPI), which excludes food and energy prices, was unchanged. Economists were forecasting 0.2%.
After the data the euro rose to $1.2665 from $1.2615 before the release.
