Sony, IBM and Toshiba said they would unveil the inner work of supercomputer chip, which has been developed for three years.
The chip got the name of the ideal chip, or supercomputer on the chip, as it will work up to ten times faster than all the current processors. The chip will be used in graphic workstations to make movies and videogames closer.
It will be made of several processing cores working on tasks together with the potential capability to 16 trillion floating point operations per second. It will be faster than Intel and AMD chips.
“This is probably going to be one of the biggest industry announcements in many years. It’s going to breathe new life into the industry and trigger fresh competition,” said Richard Doherty, president of the Envisioneering research firm.
The product inner working principle is expected to be revealed as soon as next year, companies said.
