Update 1: Vioxx to be put on markets again?
(by Dr. Goldfinger)

Update 1: Vioxx to be put on markets again? The possibility of returning popular painkiller Vioxx on the market is growing as people that benefit from it want to continue taking it.

Earlier the Food and Drug Administration disclosed warning data: about 30,000 people may have died from using popular painkiller Vioxx which lifted the treat of cardiovascular diseases.

The drug made by Merck was withdrawn from the market five months ago. But it had plenty of time – about five years on the market – to cause damage to the people with a weak heart.

Now FDA, as well as Merck, is accused of hiding vitally important information from consumers to boost sales.

The FDA advisory committees said on Friday that three drugs – Bextra, Celebrex and Vioxx – are risky and may cause heart problems but should still be available to some patients who benefit from them.
