Pope goes home after 18 days of treatment
(by Olivia Cohen)

The Pope of Rome John Paul returns to Vatican about two weeks after the operation on his throat. The Pope was cheered up by the crowds of faithful people that took to the streets to support the spiritual leader of the Roman Catholic church.

Crowds of people took to the streets to cheer up the 84-year-old Pope who was released from hospital on Sunday. He underwent throat surgery 18 days ago after complications of flu. People were crying “Viva Il Papa!” (“Long Live the Pope!”) as the Pope was going in his van.

He has been exercising his throat since the operation as some doctors said there could be some complications after the surgery linked to his Parkinson’s disease. He will continue to exercise his throat further, his spokesman said.
