Mahmoud Abbas, Palestinian President, said he is hopeful to see ceasefire among Palestinian main factions.
Abbas will meet with the factions on Tuesday in Cairo. The main Palestinian factions, such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad, so far refused to renounce attacks on Israeli civilians.
"The ceasefire the Palestinians are working on does not give up the terrorism option and is not a solution, and we cannot agree to that," Abbas said in a statement issued Monday.
Palestinian leader said he hoped to persuade Israel to leave the West Bank and release more Palestinian detainees.
This week, Israel is expected to begin the handover of the West Bank of Jericho this week.
