A churchgoer from Milwaukee killed seven and wounded four at the weekend service in the church and then killed himself.
Terry Ratzmann, 44, a computer technician, shot 22 bullets from a 9 mm handgun within a minute during the service with about 50 people in the church. The church minister and his teenage son were killed.
The shooting was so unexpected that people could not believe it had happened with them. "This is a totally senseless thing," said Jeff Miller. Her brother was killed when shielding her from bullets. "He was a great guy. He didn’t deserve to die," she added.
No one expected it from Ratzmann. "He wasn’t a dark guy. He was average Joe," said Shane Colwell, a neighbor who knew Ratzmann for about a decade.
People close to the matter said Ratzmann sometimes suffered from depression and did not talk to people.
