West Bank city of Jericho was handed to Palestine on Wednesday. Now the city will function under Palestinian security control.

Palestinian security forces General Ahmed Eid stressed that the Jericho area will now be under the control of Palestine. "From this moment we are resuming our control over the Jericho area," he said.

The move comes during the meeting between Palestinian Interior Minister Nasser Youssefand and Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz.

The hand-over of the city proves that the conflict between Israel and Palestine comes to an end. People expresse hope that the negotiations will lead to peace in the region.
